The Mail Filtering page allows you to configure which specific sites, addresses or users to filter.
Select the Enable Mail Filtering option to enable mail filtering.
Restrict by Address allows you to restrict reception of mail from an IP address, a range of IP addresses, or a group of IP addresses.
To add an IP address, first select the Restrict by Address check box and then click Save. Once that has been done, click in the Restrict by Address field and type in the specific IP address you wish to filter. When adding single IP addresses, each one must be entered in on its own line.
To add a range of IP addresses you need to enter the first address in that range followed by a hyphen (-) and then the last address in the range.
Example: 192.168.0.1 - 192.168.12.254
The above example will block the specified IP addresses and all of those in between.
Restrict by Name/Domain allows you to restrict incoming mail by user name, domain name, or full IP address.
To restrict reception of mail based upon Name or Domain, first select the Restrict by Name/Domain check box and click Save. Once that has been done, type in the in the specific entries you wish to filter.
Example: Entering *@junkdomain.com will filter all mail from any user with an email address of <any username here>@junkdomain.com.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Please use caution, especially when creating wildcard filters; typing *@* will restrict email from everyone.
If you want to ban all SMTP access from any IP address that does not have a DNS entry (otherwise known as an "A" record), select the Don't Allow Anonymous Connection box. You will no longer receive mail from any system that fails a reverse DNS lookup option.
Note: This feature affects all SMTP connections to your mail server, clients as well as servers. If you select this option, your users may be blocked if their IP addresses do not have proper DNS records.
These options allow SLmail to connect to the various third party databases to determine whether or not it should accept incoming mail from a specific location. These options act as mail filters and will block all incoming mail from any locations, which are in these databases.

If a mail filter matches, the following is logged in the slsmtp.evn log file under event 256:

97/10/28 14:44:09 0008: SMTP Access denied for [204.250.145.131]. (*@31448.com)
